Spring Break 2018
Viva Las Vegas
A weekend date, why not?
It's been a while since we've walked the Las Vegas strip, so we made a day out of it. I guess Las Vegas has always been an experience; beware of "cigaweed" smoke in your face, and show girls with nothing, but nipple covers on - if that's not your thing... Tony and I were joking that we should bring our boys there when they are 14.... for obvious reasons.
Nonetheless, we had a fun time, because, hey, it's fun to live a little!
For lunch, Tony got a recommendation to go to Hash House a Go Go..... this is our meal, after we split it. The food was delicious!
No, we couldn't finish the whole thing, even with the two of us! Despite almost an hour's wait, would definitely come back again, a great place to share a family meal, even....!
After lunch we walked around some more, did a little shopping, stopped to watch the Bellagio fountains, drank soda at Coke World and got a couple of things for our kids at M&M's World.
My personal favorite coke was from Madagascar/least favorite was one light green one, which tasted like mouthwash...
For dinner we went to a Japanese restaurant called Otoro, simply for its proximity to our comedy show and their varied menu. I wanted some sea food and my only was able to order grilled skewers with meat, which were excellent. During dinner, we had our own photo shoot with a professional photographer, which was quite sweet, actually. Tony chose the picture.....since we were celebrating his belated birthday. Orange mood lighting, anyone?
We had a little bit of time before our comedy show, so we made a little video of the Mirage Volcano for our kids, and shared a magnificent slice of cheesecake.
We both have really enjoyed comedy shows, whether on Netflix or live, so for Tony's birthday, I bought tickets to see Fluffy (aka Gabriel Iglesias), and he did not disappoint. Everything is funnier after 10 o'clock.
After a hilarious, but exhausting night, we replenished ourselves with Krispy Kreme doughnuts and headed to St. G to spend the rest of Conference weekend (I know, after Vegas...) with my family. Thank you to my pretty sis Emily for organizing a fun Easter weekend for our boys and having them over.
April Fools! I am getting this framed.
Hiking in St. G.
April is one of the more perfect months to do some hiking around the St. George area due to moderate temperatures, trust me, you don't want "swass", and you will get it, if you try to go any later than April......haha.
Red Reef Trail (with a pretty little waterfall and pools for the kids!)
$5 to park (come early as the camp ground spots fill up fast, and so will the road to the campground), the trail is super easy and the pools provide an amazing place to splash around, although are freezing cold and deep, so bring life jackets for non swimmers. The hike is probably 45m. round trip, although you should spend much more time than that, because it's simply stunning!
Trip back down memory lane.
As Tony had to leave earlier than us to get back to work, the boys and I got a ride home from my parents who came up for the weekend to SLC. On the way up, we stopped at one of my childhood fav places, Cove Fort. I remember my Dad taking us when were teenagers and how much fun we had with him, so we decided to re create this with my kids. Is this just precious, or what?
So thankful to have so many blessings in my life. Two of the biggest being our Savior, and my family! Happy spring, everyone!
