sUmmEr.CaBin.LoVE!
Last week we had the pleasure of enjoying a weekend getaway to a family's cabin with some of our friends. We had THE most refreshing and relaxing weekend of our summer. We saw amazing animals such as deer, momma moose with two babies, and hummingbirds drinking sugar water up close. We enjoyed nature all around us, had a swell time at the firepit at night where we saw the most amazing stars and planets up close. Our friend had brought a hunting scope, which we used as a telescope to see Jupiter and its moons, alongside the beautiful comet NEOWISE which supposedly comes around every 7 thousand years - so the boys were SO lucky to have seen this wonder.
We rode around the stunning mountain trails on uncle Roger's four wheelers and in the evening, the boys had caught 23 fish in just two hours at Wasatch Mountain State Park. Satan dog enjoyed the fresh air as well, and the boys had a fun time shooting bbs and laying around in the hammock in the cooler mountain air. Thank you to aunt and uncle H for letting us stay here and to our friends for hanging out!
The moose were just across the reservoir, close enough to see. They would come out mostly in the morning and in the evening, when the area around was quiet and free of people.
While looking at the stars, I discovered a new app called Skyview, where you can orient your phone towards the stars in the sky and it automatically either draws the constillations for you, or names the planet or its moons which you cannot identify with the naked eye. I took some screenshots of what we were looking at, minus Jupiter because my phone refused to callibrate properly, but it was there! The stars truly are so beautiful when you can get away from all the city lights!
This silly video of us riding around. I was trying to show how beautiful the nature was, really.
Gorgeous view of the trails below us.
The perfect summer time getaway!
